Week 8 discussion

After reading the “work of waiting”, I have a deeper understanding of the situation of the Korean Chinese workers, and I feel sympathetic for them. The work of waiting mainly discusses because of the economic reform in China, many young people migrated to Korea for a living, however, because most the migration policy in South Korea, some people could not get into South Korea, so they got stuck in Yanbian. Only part of the family could migrateto South Korea, and the rest of the family were left in China. There was one dialogue in the text that made me sad. One husband said that his wife went to Korea ten years ago, and she sends him remittance regularly, but still, they could not meet each other. He said the only way that could show their love is the remittances. The work of waiting was a both physical and mental suffering.
